This is a sad, but true fact of life. And honestly, it's not just about attractiveness. It's about presenting an image of capability. Someone who looks well put together and is nice to look at comes across as trustworthy and capable. It's as simple as that.

I've read articles about that study or something similar too. I thought it was really interesting that men and women usually craved different types of food during times of stress - and the reasoning behind it. Men crave the heartier homey-type foods, whereas women go for sugary or salty snack foods. The reason for this was that women look for something that's quick and easy - after a long day of being Mom, hearty's too much work. Whereas, men look for comforting foods that remind them of home and their own mothers.

I was in Babies 'R Us yesterday and watched a woman in front of me buy a TON of stuff. She unobtrusively handed over a hundred dollar bill and a couple twenties and I watched the checker lift the $100 bill high over her head, angling it back and forth for all to see as she checked to make sure it wasn't counterfit.

So I thought, here's this young woman that everyone in line now knows carried a lot of cash, who'll probably be robbed on her way to the car. I'm sure it was store policy to check the bills, but couldn't the salesperson at least have done it without the big show?
